Question 1:
This program will create the document indicated. Please be sure
that this is what you want to write before starting. You can
return to the main menu and select another module by pressing the
"escape" (Esc) key.
The program will write a Demand Letter designed for you. This is a
letter you can send requesting the recipient of the letter to do
something for you, such as pay what is owed you.
Question 2:
It is important to have the letter properly addressed. Here, you
need to designate if the letter is to go to an individual. If
the letter is to go to more than one individual, but not to a
company, then you can answer "yes" here also.
Question 3:
Please enter the full name of the individual to whom the letter is
directed. You may also put two names if appropriate. For
example, "Mr. and Mrs. George Bowder."
Question 4:
The program assumes that if the letter is not to an individual,
than it is to a company. If the letter is to more than one
individual and not to a company, please return to question 2 and
answer "yes". If you know the name of someone in the company
that is to receive the letter than answer "yes" to this question.
Question 5:
Please enter the full name of the person in the company who is to
receive the letter.
Question 6:
The program assumes that if the letter is not to an individual,
than it is to a company. If the letter is to more than one
individual and not to a company, please return to question 2 and
answer "yes". Here, you need to properly identify the name of
the company. You should use the company's name so that the mail
will get to the proper place.
Question 7:
Please enter the street address of the recipient of this letter.
This can also be a post office box or rural delivery number. It
should normally be the first line of the address of where the
letter is going and should include a suite number, room number,
apartment number, etc; such as "876 Williamson Lane, Suite 6A" or
"P.O. Box 8767". The next question will call for the City,
State, etc., so it there is more of an address that precedes the
City, State, etc., please enter it on this line.
Question 8:
Here, you need to list the City, State, and zip code for the
letter. This line can also include the territory where the
letter is going or any appropriate designation that you would
normally use for the final line of the address. Thus, if the
letter is going to a foreign country, please include that in
answer to this question also. For example, "Anytown, Magenta
12345" or "Cheltsfield, Surrey, England, 7G8 T4H".
Question 9:
Please date this letter.
Question 10:
You need to identify if this letter is from a company or an
individual. The program will assume that this is from an
individual if this question is answered "no".
Question 11:
A demand such as this one can be for many things. This program
will allow you to write a letter demanding almost anything, but
the most common is money.
Question 12:
Please enter the amount of money that is being demanded.
Question 13:
This question allows you to specify that the demand is for the
return or the delivery of a piece of equipment.
Question 14:
Please identify the item that you wish returned or delivered.
Question 15:
Here, you can specify that the demand is for the performance of a
service. The program will allow you to demand a service for the
undersigned or for someone else. Either way, this question
should be answered "yes".
Question 16:
Please identify the specific service that is being demanded.
Question 17:
The service can be demanded for the undersigned or for someone
else. Answer this question "yes" if the service is for the
undersigned.
Question 18:
If the demand is for a service, but not for the undersigned,
please identify the person it is to be performed for. Please enter
the person's full name. This can be either an individual or a
company.
Question 19:
If the demand is for money, you need to explain why the money is
owed to you. This question allows you to specify that the money
is owed for some merchandise.
Question 20:
Please identify the merchandise.
Question 21:
If the demand is for money, you need to explain why the money is
owed to you. This question allows you to specify that the money
is owed for services rendered.
Question 22:
Please identify the services that were provided. The next
question will allow you to specify the date of the services.
Question 23:
Please enter the date when the services were performed. If they
were performed over a period of time, then put the period down;
such as "10/3/88 to 1/3/89".
Question 24:
You can specify a date (in the next question) when you will
anticipate that the demand will be fulfilled. It is often a good
idea for a letter such as this one to put a date in it so you
will know on a certain day whether you are simply being ignored
or not. Be sure to give the recipient enough time to fulfill the
demand, allowing for mail, etc. Note that you can also require
that the demand be fulfilled within a certain number of days of
this letter. See question 26.
Question 25:
Enter the date by which you will expect that this demand will be
fulfilled.
Question 26:
If you haven't chosen a date by which this demand is to be
fulfilled, then perhaps it is appropriate to require that it be
completed within a certain number of days of this letter. The
number of days specified should be in relationship to the date of
the letter, so allow time for it to get to the recipient.
Question 27:
If you have chosen that the demand is to be fulfilled within a
certain number of days of the letter, then specify how many days.
The number of days specified should be in relationship to the
date of the letter, so allow time for it to get to the recipient.
Question 28:
You can include a paragraph in the letter explaining that you
have made an appointment with an attorney to discuss the demand.
This tends to lend credibility to the letter in that the
recipient of it will become aware that you are taking steps
towards legal enforcement of your rights.
Question 29:
If you have made an appointment with an attorney, please specify
when it is.
Question 30:
You can include a paragraph about your legal rights in this
letter. Remember that threatening some action can be considered
against the law.
Question 31:
The state, territory or jurisdiction needs to be specified.
Question 32:
If the letter is to be signed by a company, then answer "yes"
here.
Question 33:
Please enter the complete name of the company.
Question 34:
What is the name of the individual in the company who is actually
going to sign the letter?
Question 35:
If a company will not be signing the letter, than enter the name of
the individual who is going to sign this.
Question 36:
You can print the finished letter of letterhead if you wish.
Otherwise the program will allow you to enter your address
following your signature.
Question 37:
Please see the explanation to the previous question.
Question 38:
Please see the explanation to the previous question.
Question 39:
The questions are now complete. You can go back to any question
if you wish by pressing "escape", or you can continue with the
program. Now that the questions are completed, the program will
allow you to preview the document, write it to a disk file for
editing further or print it. Note that it will be automatically
saved so you can review or print it later.
